Welder reappointment sparks controversy at Medical College Hospital Chevayoor, as a retired employee is reinstated despite a shortage of advertised vacancies.

Chevayoor:In a controversial move, the Medical College Hospital Development Society has reappointed a retired employee, citing a shortage of welders suitable for the post.

The individual, an office-bearer of the ruling party’s trade union, officially retired from service on August 31 after turning 65, but was reinstated on September 17.

The reappointment , made on the same salary scale, was carried out without issuing a public notification for the vacancy or informing the Employment Exchange. The decision has sparked criticism, as it comes at a time when hundreds of job seekers are waiting for opportunities.
