A woman attending to a patient at Thiruvananthapuram Government Medical College sustained a mild forehead injury when the plastic cover of an oxygen cylinder's flowmeter detached and struck her, prompting her immediate transfer to the trauma ICU for observation, according to hospital authorities who clarified the incident occurred during an emergency where on-site regulation was necessary. This marks the second reported flowmeter-related incident at the medical college, following a similar occurrence in May 2025 where a trainee anaesthesia technician suffered a minor skull fracture from a detached flowmeter part, and adds to a pattern of such accidents, recalling another in March 2025 at SAT Hospital where a nursing assistant sustained a serious eye wound when a flowmeter burst.
