Kochi Metro Police arrested a man on Saturday after he stabbed his wife at the Muttom Metro Station here. The accused, Mahesh (39), was reportedly intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Mahesh, a resident of Kalamassery and a headload worker, allegedly attacked his wife following repeated domestic disputes. Police said he frequently consumed alcohol and quarrelled with her, forcing the woman to move to a relative’s house.

Despite this, Mahesh reportedly turned up drunk at her workplace in Muttom on several occasions, leading to further altercations. On Saturday evening, he confronted her again at a bus stop while she was returning to her relative’s house after work and followed her into the Muttom Metro Station.

Police said Mahesh stabbed the woman once in the lower left abdomen with a knife. She narrowly escaped a fatal injury after swerving at the last moment.
