Pathanamthitta: The tiger that had fallen into the well in a house at Villoonnippara, in Pathanamthitta, early on Tuesday, was rescued around 2 pm. Speaking to the media, a forest officer described the mission as successful, despite the risks involved.

The tiger, aged around 3 years, was administered a small dose of Xylazine, which quickly sedated the animal. The official said that the animal was tired since it had been in the well for some time. He added that the tiger appears healthy, and no issues were reported after the initial assessment.

The animal will now be shifted to the Chittar forest station, where its health will be examined. Then, after consulting with the Chief Wildlife Warden, the further course of action would be finalised.

According to a forest officer who spoke to the media, residents have complained about wild elephants in the region; however, this is the first time a tiger was sighted there.
