Ahead of the Independence Day celebrations, security in Delhi has been stepped up to prevent any untoward incidents. The government has beefed up security across Delhi, including the area near the Red Fort, metro stations and the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport.

Since the assassination of former PM Indira Gandhi, a bullet-prof transparent cabin was put up for prime ministers to address the gathering.
