The dates for cricket's celebrated return to the summer Olympics after the year 1900 are set. Cricket will be played between July 12 and 29 at the Los Angeles Games in 2028.

The matches will be played at the Fairgrounds Stadium in the city of Pomona, about 50km from Los Angeles. The medal matches are scheduled for July 20 and 29.

The only time cricket featured in the Olympics was way back in 1900 in Paris, when Great Britain and France played a two-day match to decide the winner, and it was the former that triumphed.

At LA, there will be six teams each in the men's and women's categories to be played in the T20 format. Most matchdays between July 12 and 29 will feature double headers, while the schedule released by the organisers does not have games on July 14 and 21. Each competing team can field 15-member squads.

The United States warmed up for the inclusion of cricket in the LA Games by co-hosting the 2024 T20 World Cup, when matches were played at Grand Prairie, Lauderhill, and New York.

Besides cricket, baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse (sixes) and squash will also feature in the 2028 Games.
