Sri Lanka made light work of Bangladesh with a dominant six-wicket win in their Asia Cup T20 Group B match at Abu Dhabi on Saturday.

Chasing a modest target of 140, the Lankan batters cruised to victory in just 14.4 overs, with opener Pathum Nissanka scoring a fluent 50 and Kamil Mishara remaining unbeaten on 46.

Although Sri Lanka suffered an early setback when Kusal Mendis was dismissed for just 3 runs, Nissanka and Mishara steadied the innings with a solid 95-run partnership for the second wicket. After Nissanka brought up his half-century, he was dismissed, but Mishara ensured there were no further hiccups.

Captain Charith Asalanka chipped in with an unbeaten 10 to see the team over the line comfortably.

Earlier, batting first, Bangladesh struggled at 53/4 in 10 overs when Jaker Ali (42 not out) and Shamim Hossain (41 not out) staged a remarkable recovery. The duo stitched together an unbeaten 86-run partnership, helping Bangladesh reach a defendable total of 139/4 in their 20 overs.

After winning the toss and opting to field, Lankan bowlers tore throught Bangladesh's top order. Both openers were dismissed without scoring, with two consecutive wicket-maidens. Skipper Litton Das attempted to anchor the innings with a composed 28, but his resistance was cut short by Wanindu Hasaranga, with Kusal Mendis taking a sharp catch.

Ali and Hossain then steadied the innings, carefully punishing loose deliveries and rotating the strike to keep the scoreboard ticking. Hasaranga was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Nuwan Thushara and Dushmantha Chameera chipped in with one wicket each.
