Still only 14, explosive batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi has been named the vice-captain of Bihar's senior men's team for the upcoming Ranji Trophy campaign.
Sakibul Gani is the captain of the 15-member squad that was released by the Bihar Cricket Association (BCA). The BCA said the squad was only for their first two matches of the campaign, starting October 15.
Suryavanshi made his Ranji Trophy debut last season against heavyweights Mumbai. The left-hander is expected to play a major part in the upcoming first-class season.
He became the young men's T20 centurion with a powerful 101 off just 38 balls in the Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals against Gujarat Titans.
He had also smashed a powerful century for India U-19 against Australia U-19 and impressed at the U-19 Asia Cup.
Bihar's first match is against Arunachal Pradesh at Patna. Bihar are in the Plate Group, where they play Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Mizoram.
