Captain Sajana S scored an unbeaten half-century as Kerala edged Mumbai by six wickets in a last-over thriller in a Senior Women's T20 Trophy match in Mohali on Sunday.
Sajana hit seven boundaries and a six in her 31-ball 51 not out as Kerala chased down Mumbai's total of 151/6 with a ball to spare. Drishy I V scored 43 and Aleena Surendran made an unbeaten 25 to help Kerala post four wins in a row in the contest.
Earlier, Mumbai skipper Humairaa Kaazi made 69 off 48, while Asha S and Shani T bagged two wickets each for Kerala.
Despite the big win that levelled them on points with Mumbai, Kerala failed to advance to the next round due to inferior run rate. Kerala, Mumbai and Baroda had 20 points from seven rounds each, but it was Mumbai that pipped the other two sides to join Vidarbha in the knockout stages from Elite Group A due to better run rate.
Brief scores: Mumbai 151/6 in 20 overs (Humairaa Kaazi 69, Khushi 26, Shani T 2/25, Asha S 2/29) lost to Kerala 152/4 in 19.5 overs (Sajana S 51 not out, Drishya IV 43, Aleena Surendran 25 not out)
