India's Shreyas Iyer said on Thursday that he was on the road to recovery after sustaining a ruptured spleen and rib-cage injury during the tour of Australia.

The 30-year-old star batter sustained the injury while attempting a running catch in the third ODI.

"I'm currently in the recovery process and getting better, every passing day," Shreyas Iyer posted on his social media handles.

"I'm deeply grateful to see all the kind wishes and support I've received - it truly means a lot. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts," he said.

Iyer walked off the field before he was rushed to a hospital. Tests revealed internal bleeding caused by a laceration in the spleen, following which he was admitted to the ICU.
