Sanju 'chettan' meets 'Lalettan': KCL-3 promo sets social media abuzz

With the countdown to the third season of the Kerala Cricket League nearing its end, a promotional video featuring league icon Sanju Samson and superstar Mohanlal has taken social media by storm.

Packed with humour and built around the unmistakable chemistry between two of Kerala's biggest stars, the promo has already garnered 3.5 million views on Instagram, while another 1.8 lakh views have been recorded on YouTube. The coming together of Malayalis' beloved 'Chetta' — Sanju Samson — and 'Ettan' — the affectionate nickname for Mohanlal — has struck a chord with fans.

The video opens with Mohanlal stepping out of a studio after a film shoot. Meanwhile, Sanju is in his car when his wife calls and asks him to pull over.

By coincidence, Mohanlal gets into the car without realising that Sanju is behind the wheel. When Mohanlal asks him to drive to Greenfield International Stadium, Sanju cheekily asks, "Does Chettan also play cricket?"

Mohanlal's response, in which he recalls his captaincy in the Celebrity Cricket League and claims that he was the one who brought Sanju from Rajasthan Royals to the Chennai Super Kings team, adds to the humour.

The advertisement reaches its punchline when Mohanlal finally realises that the person driving the car is none other than Sanju himself.

The promo captures the playful chemistry between two icons from Kerala's film and sporting worlds, making their 'Ettan-Chetta' exchange the highlight of the video.

The third season of the Kerala Cricket League will begin on Thursday at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. Calicut Globstars will take on Thrissur Titans in the opening match.

Calicut Globstars will be led by Rohan S Kunnummal, while Akhil M S will captain Thrissur Titans.

Six franchises will compete in the third edition of the league: Kochi Blue Tigers, Aries Kollam Sailors, Thrissur Titans, Calicut Globstars, Trivandrum Royals and Alleppey Ripples.
