India's challenge in the Indonesia Open Super 1000 badminton tournament ended Friday after ace doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty bowed out in the quarterfinals.
The former World No. 1 ranked Indian duo lost in straight games (19-21, 16-21) to Malaysia's Man Wei Chong and Tee Kai Wun.
The Malaysian duo had lost to Satwik and Chirag on four previous occasions, but today, they secured a solid win in 43 minutes.
Man and Tee won the Malaysia Masters last month and showed their class against the Indian duo, which lacked discipline in defence and was error-prone throughout.
In the opening game, the Indian pair levelled at 11 and 17 points but could not capitalise. The Malaysians stormed into a 7-3 lead in the second game and maintained it until 13-17. However, a few flat smashes helped the Indian duo narrow the lead to 16-18, but Man and Tee proved too strong.
