It was not the famed Italian cuisine or their numerous architectural marvels that touched the heart of Malayalam actor Rima Kallingal, who is known for her passion for travelling, during her recent visit to the country. It was an open air theatre - 'Theatre of Silence' (Teatro del Silenzio) in Lajatico, Toscana, - that left the Rani Padmini actor spellbound.
Moved by the spectacular amphitheatre and its picturesque surrounding, Rima shared a picture and a video on Instagram explaining the importance of the palace.
Sharing a photo of her standing on the road leading to the open-air theatre, Rima wrote: “Hola from the 'Theatre of silence' in Lajatico, Italy. The birth place of the famous musician Andrea Bocelli. He conducts a concert on this stage every year. You see the chilli behind me.. thats the stage... where they display an art creation through out the year when the show does not happen. Beautiful vision:)” (sic)
Rima posted the video to give all her fans a “better look at the Theatre of Silence”.
The 'Theatre of Silence' is an open stage built by the legendary Italian singer Andrea Bocelli at Lajatico. Musical concerts take place at this open stage every year in the month of July. Andrea Bocelli, who became blind at the age of 12, conducted a concert here for the first time in July 2006 and this tradition has been followed ever since. The 'Theatre of Silence' is built close to a serene lake which adds to the charm of this place. Art works by many famous artists and exquisite bronze statues of horses adorn the open theatre. Nature offers the perfect backdrop for this elegant structure situated at Lajatico in Italy, and is an ideal place where music, art and nature combine to create a mystical effect.
