They say you can never go wrong with biriyanis. And at these restaurants, you really cannot go wrong with this delectable dish.  From the rich and fruity Arabic biriyani to the local and Thalassery biriyani we bring you five of our favorite biriyani joints in the city

Ajwa

If you are looking for that Thalassery taste in biriyani – head to Ajwa. They do not have a very elaborate menu. You get biriyanis, of course, chicken fry and hot sulaimani (lemon tea) or canned drinks to polish it down. And the rice, the blend of meat – be it chicken, mutton or fish is just perfect.

Dhariya

Malabar biriyani again, and full of spices. If you are someone who loves the biriyani a bit moist and juicy, Dhariya is your place to be.

Hotel Azad

Long ago, Azad used to be the first and last name in biriyanis. With new places opening up, this has changed. But it still remains one of the most favorite places in the capital city.

Halai's Dum Biriyani

If dum biriyani is what you are looking for, head out to Halai's. But, do not expect the taste you are used to at other cities like Hyderabad. What you get here definitely has the Kerala spin to its taste.

Villa Maya

If you do not mind spending a bit too much for the ambiance and the food and want professional service, every time round, Villa Maya is your place to be. A family dinner or a romantic evening out – the chicken biriyani and the mutton biriyani at Villa Maya will leave your tummy happy. If you are not very hungry, one potion should satisfy two people, but that, of course depends on how hungry you are.
