Way back in 1965, there was a restaurant called 'Paradise' in Kottayam that introduced the locals to the tastes of Malabar. However, a couple of years down the lane, the restaurant was shut down. And now, they are back - a new name 'Malabar Paradise', a new partner and staff brought from Malabar.
The restaurant opens at around 7am and serves appam, puttu, idiyappam, idly, pathiri and ghee pathiri. By 11am, the Malabar delicacies like Pazham Nirachathu, Unnakkaya, Kaypola, Chemmeen ada, Meen ada, Masala ada, Erachi Pathiri, Elachi, Kunjorotti, Mussels and chicken delicacies are served till lunch and then again during the evening.
You can have the fish curry meals or settle for yummy biriyanis. You can pick from chicken, beef, mutton and fish. Tandoori items are also available.
Head out to this restaurant on Sundays, and indulge in the specials. Kuzhimandi, mutton ran, majboos and Hyderabadi biriyani will keep your tummy happy.
The restaurant is at the KPM arcade near the collectorate at Kottayam.
