As the registration for the Nehru Trophy Boat Race closes, the number of boats registered this year remains unchanged from last year. This year, the race will be held on August 22. 71 boats have registered for the annual regatta in various categories. 74 boats had participated in the Nehru Trophy in 2024, while it was 79 in 2023. Meanwhile, this year, the number of chundan vallam (snake boats) has gone up to 22; last year, 21 chundans had vied for the trophy.
In 2024, 19 chundan vallams were in the race for the prestigious title. However, only one boat has been registered in the Thekkanodi Tharayil category rowed by women. This year, four boats are registered under the Thekkanodi Kettu category, also rowed by women. Last year, only one boat took part in the event.
