Kozhikode: The ‘Olappura’ food festival offering an entirely different fare is on at Hotel Malabar Palace. The festival is open from 7 pm to 11 pm till August 8. Traditional food items like appam and tapioca dishes can be savoured at the fest, along with improvised delicacies titled veg puttu, jellikettu puttu, chicken puttu etc.
Authentic local dishes like chemmeen koorka ularthu, chutta kozhi and duck mappas are available. For vegetarians, the event has roasted brinjal, kuttanadan vegetable curry and ladies finger mulakittathu.
The guests at the food fest will be hosted and served by waiters in traditional attire. Old radio songs will be played in the background. Adding an old worldly charm, ‘ranthal’ lamps will provide the illumination. According to Malabar Palace general manager Jimmy Antony, the event provides the right ambiance to taste ethnic cuisine in a rustic setting.
