Kochi Metro celebrates Women’s Day: Launches special fare, napkin vending machines

Kochi: According to Kochi Metro authorities, women passengers can travel any distance on Women’s Day with a ticket costing Rs 20. As part of the celebrations, three women who travelled the longest distance on the Metro during the last one year would be felicitated by Loknath Behera, managing director of the Kochi Metro Rail Limited. The felicitation function will be held at Kaloor Metro station at noon.

Vending machines

Behera will also inaugurate the napkin vending machines installed at Edappally, Kaloor, Maharaja’s and Ernakulam South Metro stations during the felicitation function at Kaloor station at 12.15 pm. Napkins will be available free of cost on the inaugural day.

Bone density test

Meanwhile, the Metro stations where medical camps to conduct the free bone density test have been arranged are Muttom, Edappally, M G Road and Vyttila. The camps will function from 11 am to 7 pm.

Flash mob, fashion show and mime

Yet another Women’s Day programme arranged by Kochi Metro is a flash mob by students of the Cochin Business School at Kaloor station at 2.30 pm.

At 2.30 pm itself, the Ernakulam South Metro station will witness a fashion show and mime.
