AirlineRatings.com, an airline safety rating website, recently released the list of 20 safest airlines in the world. The website considered fleet size and age, pilot proficiency, safety protocols, and the number of incidents, among many other factors.

According to the list, Air New Zealand is the safest airline in the world, followed by the Australian flag carrier Qantas. Qatar Airways, Emirates in the UAE, and Cathay Pacific in Hong Kong are tied for third place. Qantas was ranked second, only by a difference of 1.50 points. These top airlines do not compromise on their safety protocols and pilot training. Qatar Airways, Emirates and Cathay Pacific impressed with the fleet age, rate of accidents, and overall safety protocols.

Virgin Australia, Etihad Airways, ANA, EVA Air, Korean Air, Alaska Airlines, Turkish Airlines, TAP Portugal, Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, SAS, British Airways, Iberia, Finnair, Lufthansa, Swiss, Japan Airlines, and Air Canada are among the top 20 safest airlines in the world.

The safest budget airlines
IndiGo, one of the top budget airlines in India, has grabbed the 19th spot in the list of safest budget airlines. Hong Kong Express is the safest low–cost airline, followed by Jetstar Group, Ryanair, easyJet, Frontier Airlines, AirAsia, Wizz Air, VietJet Air, Southwest Airlines, Volaris, flydubai, Norwegian, Vueling, Jet2, Sun Country Airlines, WestJet, JetBlue Airways, Air Arabia, IndiGo, and Eurowings.
