Alappuzha: The general administration department has allowed the sales of tickets for this year’s Nehru Trophy Boat Race(NTBR) through government offices in ten districts. The tickets for the annual regatta could be sold via various government offices in Alappuzha, Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. Tickets were also sold at government offices last year. This year, the iconic Nehru Trophy Boat Race will be held at the Punnamada Lake on August 30.
Sub collector Sameer Kishan who is also the secretary of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race Society (NTBR) had written to the general administration department to allow the sales of tickets via government offices to raise funds for the event. According to the Kerala Government Servants Conduct Rules, tickets can be sold at offices without force or prompting. Last year, complaints were rife that sales targets were set in some government offices, and the common people who visited the offices for various purposes were forced to purchase the tickets.
Ticket rates
Last year, the tickets were sold between a range of Rs 100 to Rs 25,000. These rates are likely to repeat this year too. NTBR will soon convene a meeting to finalise the ticket prices, followed by a tender invitation for printing the tickets.
