Idukki: The first ‘She Lodge’ in Idukki district has opened at Randam Mile in Pallivasal grama panchayat, offering women travellers safe and affordable accommodation.
Built at a cost of ₹1.5 crore under the 2022–23 annual plan, the facility features seven bedrooms, a 16-bed dormitory, a restaurant, a kitchen, and resort-level amenities. Visitors also have access to ample parking and customised meal options. The lodge provides panoramic views of the Idukki Dam, hill ranges, and sprawling plantations.
The project was implemented as part of a multi-year development scheme initiated by the Pallivasal Grama Panchayat. The lodge is expected to be officially inaugurated by the end of August.
Pallivasal Panchayat President VG Pratheesh Kumar told Onmanorama that the She Lodge was set up to ensure a safe and quality accommodation facility for women, alongside empowering tourism. "It will also be run by women, which will create employment opportunities for many. Along with boosting the panchayat’s revenue, it will support the advancement of women,” he added. The facility will be inaugurated at the end of August with a grand event, he added.
