Train timings and positions have been changed on March 3 to accommodate passengers and devotees arriving in Thiruvananthapuram for the Attukal Pongala festival. The trains from Thiruvananthapuram Central station to Kollam will be parked on platforms 1, 2, 3, and 4. Meanwhile, the train to Nagercoil will be from platform 5. More ticket counters would be opened at the station on the day of Pongala. However, the authorities wouldn’t allow the setting up of pongala hearths near the station. 

Change in timings
The departure times of a few trains have also been rescheduled for March 3. Thiruvananthapuram – Nizamuddin Express departs at 2.30 pm, while the Thiruvananthapuram North – Nagercoil passenger starts at 1.40 pm from North and at 2.40 pm from Thiruvananthapuram Central. Meanwhile, the Kollam – Kanyakumari MEMU departs from Kollam at 12.50 pm and from Thiruvananthapuram at 3.20 pm. Nagercoil – Kottayam Express departs at 3.20 pm from Thiruvananthapuram.
