A strict alcohol ban will be imposed in the area from 6 pm on March 12 to 6 pm on March 13.
The aduppuvettu ritual starts at 10.15 am on March 13, the main festival day.
The 10-day festival will begin on March 5 this year.
The Attukal Pongala is celebrated on the ninth day of the 10-day annual festival at the temple.
The Southern Railway has announced three special trains in connection with the festival.
The Sunday service will be held as a combined service in the evening at 5.30 pm.
