Thiruvananthapuram: A new system should be formed to prevent the schools from inflating the students’ strength to create teaching posts, the super check cell of the education department has recommended to the government.

The super check cell made a slew of recommendations after it found that at least 90 of the 178 schools, where inspections were held, had fabricated the student enrolment numbers.

The super check cell has recommended that inspections must be carried out at the schools before sanctioning new posts. Education officers should take a count of the students and ensure that the schools have the basic facilities.

It also sought that enough number of officers be included in the super check cell to carry out inspections at the 7,236 schools in the government-aided sector

The super check cell also proposed to issue an order that transfer certificate (TC) should be given with the permission of the education officers only after taking a count of the students on the sixth working day of the academic year.

Another recommendation is to review the teaching posts that were sanctioned while taking into account the differently-abled students, who are unable to attend classes and full-time students of religious institutions.

There are also allegations that false UID numbers were uploaded to inflate the student numbers. Therefore, the UID should be checked via the KITE (Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education). The education department’s cell also urged the government not to consider the admissions for which the UIDs have not been submitted.
