The announcement comes on a day when the Madras High Court reserved its order on a petition seeking a direction to the CBFC to grant a ‘UA 16+’ censor certificate to the film, which is widely speculated to be Vijay’s final outing as an actor.

The release of 'Jana Nayagan', the much-anticipated multilingual film starring Vijay, has been postponed, the producers announced on Wednesday.
KVN Productions, backing the big-budget project, said the decision was taken due to unavoidable circumstances beyond their control. Acknowledging the anticipation surrounding the film, the production house said it fully understood the excitement and emotional investment of fans and stakeholders.
“It is with a heavy heart that we share this update. The release of 'Jana Nayagan', which was scheduled for January 9, has been postponed due to reasons beyond our control,” the statement said, adding that the decision was not an easy one.
The producers said a new release date would be announced at the earliest and requested patience and continued support from audiences. “Your unwavering love and encouragement mean everything to the entire Jana Nayagan team,” KVN Productions said.
