Arjun Ashokan, Mridul Nair join for a peppy musical 'Kaliyanne'

After B tech and Instagramamm, Mridul Nair has teamed up with Arjun Ashokan for a music video Kaliyanne.

The video

The word  ‘Kaliyanne’ is a usual word used by people North Malabar which represents their emotions, feelings and attitude.

The video song introduces Arjun Ashokan's character who seems to be part of a mission.

The song falls in the genre unexplored in the Malayalam music scene. It is a combination of techno, rap, psychedelic tunes along with dappankuthu. The lines may seem like simple and silly but has deeper socio-political undertone.

What the makers got to say

While the peppy number is crooned by Mridul Nair, Ganapathi, Arjun Ashokan and Nikhil Ramdas, the lyrics has been penned by Mridul Nair. The song has been composed by Nikhil Ramdas.

In a statement, the makers on releasing the song said, "During the pandemic year, we yearned to make a track that resonated with the mood of the people in Kerala and beyond. We wanted to give them a happy, peppy song to sing along, dance along and perform with their free spirit in the coming year. The song is a mere dance number but, it is also a reflection of a society which is independent and liberal on one side but decaying and retrogressive on the other side. We tried to represent the fearless exuberance of youth and blend it with the social evils still prevalent in our society."
