'Peace' director Sanfeer K is also passionate about music. The filmmaker recently turned music composer for the movie 'Vayassethrayayi Muppathi', which hit theatres last week. The song 'Puyyappala Thakkarathinu' sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan from the movie hit two million recently. Sanfeer, who is on cloud nine, says the song was composed by him much before he got involved with the project.
“I have always been focused on writing lyrics and have also composed 40 songs till date. However, this is the first time my song has been used in a film. ‘Puyyappala Thakkarathinu’ was composed long before I got involved with ‘Vayassethrayayi Muppathi’. The filmmakers loved the song and asked me if they could use it for the movie,” he said.
The Malabar wedding song caught the vibe of the film, which revolves around an unmarried man who struggles to tie the knot. The film is set in Vadakara and features a bunch of village folk and the banter between them. Director of Photography Sameer Gibran who worked with Sanfeer in ‘Peace’ invited him to work in ‘Vayassethrayayi Mupathi’.
Sanfeer K who is also a geographer says he learnt that he could place background songs in the right position when he began post-production works for his film ‘Peace’. “I never dreamt of becoming a music composer or even a director. I also gained confidence to compose music after attending music lessons from top musicians online during Covid,” he said.
Vayassethrayayi Muppathi features Prasant Murali, Mareena, Manju Pathrose, Nirmal Palazhi and Remya Suresh, among others.
