Appam with chocolate filling

Jaggery has always been a perfect sweetening agent while making desi snacks and quick bites. And then innovation set in, and fusion food mania took the world by storm. No food was spared. And jaggery got replaced by dark and milk chocolate.

This time, we have a yummy recipe in our kitty that would take only a few easy steps to make- soft rice appams with a chocolate and coconut filling. Try out the easy steam-cooked method and surprise your family with this yummy evening snack.

Ingredients
For appam
1 cup rice flour
1 tsp ghee
Salt as required
Filling
1/4 cup chocolate powder
1/2 cup grated coconut
2 tbsp hot water for mixing

Preparation
Mix chocolate powder and grated coconut together
Pour in the hot water and mix well
Keep aside and let it cool
For the pancake, boil some water and add ghee in it
Add the rice flour to this water gradually until a thick batter is formed
Let it cool down
Knead this dough well and make lemon sized balls out of it
Press them into round pancakes using a rolling pin
Now add the chocolate filling in the middle of the pancakes
Fold them from the middle keeping the filling inside
You can also make them into chocolate dumplings.
Steam the stuffed pancakes for a few minutes and serve
