The central government has issued directives as the country grips under severe heat. A list that includes the ‘do’s and don’ts’ for staying healthy during the summer has been shared by the Press Information Bureau on the X platform.
Avoid cooking
As per the directives, it is better to avoid cooking when the temperature is high. Besides, the windows and doors in the kitchen should be opened while cooking. Food items that contain high protein too should be avoided during summer as the body temperature increases during digestion. The body requires a well-balanced diet during summer. It is essential to keep the body hydrated; so, do not forget to include fruits and vegetables that contain water and electrolytes in your regular diet.

Avoid these drinks
It is quite common for people to drink sugary soft drinks to refresh their body during harsh summer. Sodas, energy drinks and some iced teas contain high sugar and caffeine. These drinks may cause many health issues. As these drinks are loaded with calories, they are likely to increase body weight and may even lead to obesity. Besides, the high sugar content in such drinks could destroy oral health and may lead to tooth decay and gum problems. Moreover, the acidity or the fizz could eventually harm the enamel on teeth. You could choose plain drinking water or herbal teas to ensure oral and dental health.
