Tiruvannamalai (TN): The principal of a Kendriya Vidyalaya school in the district has been relieved from work after students and parents protested against him in view of a sexual harassment case pending against him in Bengaluru where he was posted earlier, officials said on Tuesday.

District Collector K S Kandhasamy issued the order relieving Kumar Thaku from the post of principal of the Kendriya Vidyalaya at Kanandham Poondi, they said.

Thakur had taken charge on August 13 on being transferred from Bengaluru.

A case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act had been filed against him for alleged sexual harassment of some girl children of the school in Bengaluru, the officials said.

As a message circulated on social media about the pending case against Thakur, most of the students and their parents at Kanandham Poondi held demonstrations against him in the past few days.

A complaint was sent to the district collector on WhatsApp.
