UDF alleges 200 bogus votes by LDF in Kannur, collector orders probe

Kannur: The UDF has filed an official complaint with the district collector alleging that the CPM has cast 200 bogus votes in the Lok Sabha constituency. In the complaint, it is alleged that A K Sayuj, who is a voter in the 47th booth, in Dharmadam, the constituency of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, had cast votes in the polling booths number 52 and 53 as well. The UDF has also submitted a video footage to support their allegation.

The rest of the 199 alleged bogus votes, as per the complaint, were done in Peravoor, Mattannur, Dharmadam and Thaliparamba legislative constituencies that come under the Kannur Lok Sabha constituency. The complaint states that a brother and sister, who are workers of the CPM, have allegedly cast 9 bogus votes.

According to the grievance submitted to the collector, it is said that even underage persons, who don't have voting rights have indulged in bogus voting. K Surendran, the chief election agent of UDF candidate K Sudhakaran has submitted the complaint to collector Mir Muhammed Ali, in person.

District collector Mir Muhammed Ali said that the complaint given by the UDF would be thoroughly investigated. He informed that the footage from the web casting would be inspected by comparing it with the names in the list that has been submitted along with the complaint.
