Thiruvananthapuram: The districts of Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam accounted for over 37% of the COVID protocol violations in Kerala on Sunday when the state observed a lockdown to control the spread of the pandemic.
Incidentally, the two districts have been the worst affected in terms of daily COVID cases.
In one week, Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam have accounted for over 38% of the daily coronavirus tally in Kerala.
That was, however, not a deterrent for protocol violations in these districts. Of the 452 police cases charged on the day, Ernakulam rural and city combined tallied 103 while Thiruvananthapuram had 68 cases registered with regards to violations.
However, the most arrests for violations were recorded in the Pathanamthitta district (38) followed by Kasaragod (37) and Kannur rural (33).
The state police informed that 115 vehicles were seized for violating the lockdown while at least 5,000 instances of people not wearing face masks in the public were also reported on the day.
