Three districts namely Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram and Thrissur reported over 1,000 cases on the day.
There are are 211 wards in 158 local bodies across Kerala where the Weekly Infection Population Ratio is above 10.
The state tested 89,995 samples for coronavirus in the last 24 hours.
With this, the number of active COVID cases in the state fell to 96,646. Of the new cases, 7,353 contracted the virus through contact while 35 came from outside the state.
The report says that the sero positivity among children in the school-going 5-17 age group is 40.2%. This means that nearly 60% of school children in Kerala have still not been exposed to the virus.
