Naduvannur: The Manthankavu Kandambathu Thazhe polder in Naduvannur Panchayat is finally set for restoration.
With ₹40 lakh allotted from the Minor Irrigation Fund, the Kandambathu Thazhe stream will be cleaned and revived, enabling farmers to restart cultivation in the fields. At present, the stream overflows during the monsoon, leaving the land waterlogged and preventing the cultivation of paddy or vegetables.
C Ajayan, Executive Engineer of the Minor Irrigation Department, informed Panchayat President T P Damodaran that the estimate has been prepared and the site handed over to the contractor.
The President assured that the restoration work will be completed soon. Following this, further projects will be planned to make paddy and vegetable cultivation possible on the fields once again.
