Kozhikode: A 40-year-old man who dragged a passenger out during a robbery attempt in Kurla, Mumbai, was arrested from Kozhikode. The victim lost part of his hand when he fell under the moving train.
Kurla Police registered the arrest of Mohammed Saif Askar Ali (40), who was serving his remand period in Kozhikode district jail for another robbery case, last week.

On August 8, Kozhikode Railway Police arrested Ali for dragging a woman out of the train and robbing her bag. He had employed the same technique in Mumbai, too, police said.

Ali's attempt to rob an ayurvedic doctor couple, Yogesh and Deepali Deshmukh, resulted in the man losing part of his hand when he fell into the track.

The incident happened on June 4. The couple and their daughter were travelling in the LTT-Nanded special train when Ali grabbed Deepali's bag and dragged her down. In an attempt to help his wife, Yogesh also fell into a track and was severely injured. However, Ali managed to give the police the slip.
