Badiyadukka: The absence of a traffic circle at the main junction in Badiyadukka town, where the KSTP road between Kumbla and Mulleriya intersects with the inter-state road connecting Cherkala and Kalladukka, is causing major difficulties for motorists.
In contrast, at Meethal Bazar, where these same roads meet again, a properly designed traffic circle ensures the smooth flow of vehicles.
The Badiyadukka junction lies in a busy area through which vehicles from Badiyadukka, Perla, Kasaragod, Kumbla, and Vidyagiri areas pass. Adding to the congestion, the road from Vidyagiri also joins at this point, which also provides access to the town’s bus stand as well.
On an average day, around 70 buses, along with numerous private vehicles and pedestrians, pass through this junction. With no system in place to regulate traffic, vehicles move in a haphazard manner, often leading to traffic snarls and accidents.
A small traffic circle that once existed here was dismantled during road redevelopment and dividers have been installed on three sides instead.
Meanwhile, the traffic circle at Meethal Bazar, located just outside Badiyadukka town, was built during the redevelopment of the KSTP road. As a result, vehicles coming from Badiyadukka, Mulleriya, Kasaragod, and Sulliappadavu move through this point smoothly and safely.
