Kannur: A family of four, including two young children, was found dead Monday night in what is suspected to be a case of murder-suicide near Payyannur in Kannur district.
The deceased have been identified as Kaladharan (40), his elderly mother Usha, and his two daughters, aged seven and two years, of Ramanthali Central in Ramanthali panchayat.
Kaladharan was engaged in the food catering business. He was separated from his wife, and their case was pending before the family court, said K P Dinesh, a former panchayat member. The wife was not residing with Kaladharan or the children at the time.
Mahita Mohan, a Youth Congress leader, said the deceased were her relatives and indicated that there had been difficulties in the couple’s relationship. Payyannur police said they were alerted to the incident around 9.30 pm. Officers have reached the village and begun recording statements. The inquest is expected to be conducted on Tuesday.
