Coimbatore: Kausalya who was in the limelight following the 2016 horrific honour killing of her husband and her crusade against caste-based violence has married again. She tied the knot with one Parai Isai artist Sakthi, who belonged to another caste, in her bid to champion inter-community weddings.

The wedding took place at Gandhipuram at a simple ceremony on Sunday.

Palani native Kausalya was a student in Pollachi when she fell in love with Udumalpet-native Shankar who belonged to another caste. Kausalya's family were against the marriage and on March 13, 2016, Shankar was murdered by men hired by her own family. Kausalya too was injured in the attack.

Eleven people including her father were arrested and a sessions court in Tirupur sentenced her father Chinnasamy and five others to death.

Since then Kausalya has been staying in Shankar's house and carrying out social work, for which she has set up a trust in the name of Shankar.

Shankar's father Velusami, grandmother Mariammal, younger brother Vignesh and others took part in the wedding.

After completing a visual communication course, Sakthi has been running a music troupe Nimirv.
