Kerala's tour of Oman for a T20 series began with a 40-run defeat in Muscat on Tuesday.

Kerala, led by Saly Samson, brother of India star Sanju, won the toss and opted to field. Oman posted 143/7, with Hussnain Ul Wahab top-scoring 31 from 24 balls. For Kerala, Akhil Scaria bagged two wickets.

In response, Kerala was bundled out for 103 with skipper Saly scoring 24. For the hosts, Sufyan Mehmood and Zikriya Islam bagged three wickets each.

The second match will be played tomorrow, and the series will wrap up on Friday.

The 16-member touring squad comprises players selected from the recently completed Kerala Cricket League (KCL), in which Kochi Blue Tigers, led by Saly, emerged champions.
