There are unconfirmed reports that Rajasthan Royals' captain Sanju Samson could return to Delhi Capitals, a franchise he represented for two seasons in the Indian Premier League.

The reports were fuelled by comments made by former India player Aakash Chopra on his YouTube channel. Chopra was analysing the situation in which Sanju is expected to leave Rajasthan, but a clear destination has not emerged, yet.

According to Chopra, DC appear to be the likely destination for the Kerala star because they are one of the few franchises who can afford the hefty price tag of Rs 18 crore that Sanju carries.

"If you need to exchange a good Indian player, who need another Indian equally good or go for an all-cash deal," Chopra explained the logic. Considering there are very few elite Indian players of Sanju's calibre who are ready to be traded, the probability of South African all-rounder Tristan Stubbs has emerged.

It is understood that RR approached Chennai Super Kings for a swap deal with Ravindra Jadeja, which was turned down. However, should RR settle for Stubbs, they will have to shell out Rs 8 crore, which is difference in price with Sanju.

Ace wicketkeeper batter Sanju conveyed his decision to leave RR after an eventful eight-season second spell. Sanju had played for DC in 2016 and 2017 when RR were banned. During that period, Sanju scored his maiden IPL century.
