New Delhi: The Supreme Court instructed that students appearing for CBSE private and compartment exams can seek provisional admission for higher studies. They need to submit the certificates within a week after the results are announced. This was ruled by a bench headed by Justice AM Khanwilkar after CBSE informed the court that it would publish the results of the private and compartments students before 30 September.

The lawyers representing UGC and AICTE said that these students could be given provisional admission based on the current mark sheets and documents. It was in this scenario that the court had instructed the students to secure provisional admissions. The apex court was hearing a writ petition filed by a few students seeking clarity in this matter.
