The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it will declare the final results of classes 10 and 12, even if the students have missed either of the two term exams, due to various reasons including testing positive for COVID-19.
Asked about the rationale behind the decision, CBSE officials maintained the changes were part of rationalisation of syllabus and in alignment with NCERT recommendations.
The rising cases of COVID-19 have sparked concerns of possible school closures yet again even as experts have warned against the long term learning losses caused by prolonged closure.
The exam will now be held on April 21, 24, 25, 29 and May 1 and 4. Earlier, the first session was scheduled from April 16 to 21.

The apex court passed the order while hearing the pleas of the students who wrote the improvement exam. They appealed to the court to not cancel the marks of their previous exams.
