Clint Art Gallery to be opened in Kochi soon: Location, facilities and features

A gallery in memory of child prodigy Edmund Thomas Clint, who drew more than 25,000 paintings in a short life span of just seven years, will soon be opened in Kochi. The gallery, located in 3500 sqft on the first floor of the Gandhinagar Shopping Complex behind the GCDA complex, honours the memories of Clint while opening up a world of his mesmerising paintings to the public. One hundred of Clint's best paintings will be exhibited at the gallery. The copies of the paintings would be framed and shown here. Meanwhile, the paintings will be selected by artist Boney Thomas.
The civil, electrical and air conditioning works of the gallery have been completed. A note explaining how Clint had drawn the picture, too, would be added along with the paintings. The authorities plan to open the gallery before Onam. In addition to Clint's paintings, works by other artists will also be exhibited here. With the opening of the Clint Art Gallery, the city will get a world-class gallery that could lure art enthusiasts from around the globe.
The gallery will also have modern acoustic facilities to enhance the experience. Besides, the visitors could also enjoy virtual reality and augmented reality. The gallery will have space to conduct art camps and classes, and a library too. It took six months to complete the construction of the gallery. Meanwhile, Rs 58 lakh was spent on developing and executing the project.
Edmund Thomas Clint was born to MT Joseph and Chinnamma on May 19, 1976. He was diagnosed with kidney disease and said goodbye to the world when he was only seven years old. Clint’s paintings had become world-famous after people heard about him through movies and his dear ones. Clint’s mother, Chinnamma, had expressed her willingness to hand over the paintings and mementoes to GCDA. Meanwhile, GCDA has sought the government’s permission to take over Clint’s paintings.
