India make 75/2 after conceding narrow lead in first innings on day two

England slipped up after a steady start to settle for a narrow 23-run lead in the first innings on day two of the fifth and final Test at The Oval on Friday.
India were 75/2 in their second innings, leading by 52 runs at stumps. Akash Deep (4) had joined Yashasvi Jaiwal (51) after K L Rahul (7) and Sai Sudharsan (11) fell.
England's first innings folded for 247 in response to India's total of 224. Zak Crawley (64) and Ben Duckett (43) added 92 for the opening wicket.
Harry Brook made 53 to guarantee England the lead before Prasidh Krishna cleaned up the tail to finish with 4/62. Fellow pacer Mohammed Siraj bagged 4/86 as India once again did not miss Jasprit Bumrah, who chose to manage his workload by sitting out of the must-win match.
England lost their last four wickets for 32 runs. In comparison, India began the day at 204/6 and were bundled out 5.4 overs later, after just 20 more were added to the overnight score.
Karun Nair, who resumed at 52, lost a review after being adjudged leg before to Tongue for 57. Washington Sundar (26) followed, getting out to a short ball from Gus Atkinson, who returned to bundle out India by removing Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna in three balls. Atkinson, in for injured skipper Ben Stokes, bagged a fifer (5/33) and Josh Tongue finished with 3/57.
India trail the series 1-2 and must win the final game to avoid a series defeat.
