NEET (UG) 2023: Here is how to apply for the exam

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has invited online applications for the National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Test (Under-Graduate), or NEET (UG), 2023, for medical courses. The entrance test is scheduled for May 7, 2023.
How to apply
Log into neet.nta.nic.in for submitting the application and for other instructions including the syllabus. The instructions are on the pages 6 to 9 and 33 and 34 of the information bulletin. Online applications could be submitted on the website neet.nta.nic.in until 9 pm on April 6. The application fee could be paid online until 11.50 pm on the same day.
The registration fee for General category candidates is Rs 1,700.
The aspirants shouldn’t submit more than one application. Admission cannot be assured just because you secure a score in NEET.
Applications should be submitted at the right time, by following the guidelines of the respective institutes. The applicants could log into websites like www.mohfw.gov.in, www.mcc.nic.in and the websites of the respective institutes for information regarding admission to 15% All–India Quota, central universities and the Armed Forces Medical College.
Meanwhile, the information regarding the NEET-based counselling for Ayurveda, Homeopathy and Sidha courses are available on websites like www.ayush.gov.in and www.aaccc.gov.in.
Eligibility
Those who have passed Plus-Two with at least 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Biotechnology) can apply. Candidates from the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes need 40% marks. Students who are awaiting the results of the final exam too can apply. The applicants who have passed the eligibility exam abroad too should score 50% marks.
Biotechnology wouldn’t be considered for application to courses like Ayurveda, Homepathy, Sidha and Unani. Moreover, those who apply for the Sidha courses should have mandatorily studied Tamil in classes 10 or 12. Besides, the candidates should have studied one of Urdu, Arabic or Persian in Classes 10 or 12 for applying to the Unani courses. Those who haven’t studied these languages should learn them in the first year of study.
If institutes like JIPMER and AIIMS has set minimum marks guidelines for admission, then the applicants need to follow that.
The applicants should complete 17 years as on December 31, 2023. There is no upper-age limit for application. The Overseas Citizens of India/Persons of Indian Origin would be considered only for the NRI or super-numerary seats. Even though open school students and those who had studied Biology/Biotechnology as additional subjects would be allowed to sit for the NEET, their admission would be liable to the judgements in the cases related to this issue.
