Foodstagram: Kerala kappa to Turkish menemen

The lifestyle and routines of people are getting more and more tangled with social media platforms these days. When you go to a restaurant, a tourist destination or a historical monument, that tiny grey 'share' button pops up on the corner of your mobile screen, tempting you to share with the the world what you see.

And of course, the most favorite of all these is “foodstagramming.” Posting enticing photographs of the yummy delicacies that you ordered at a restaurant or whipped up at your kitchen has become a lifestyle fad.

Against this backdrop, Onmanorama is bringing you a new series - Foodstagram- featuring the best of the food photographs that were tagged with our official Instagram handle @onmanoramalive.

This time, we have selected three posts: an egg menmen, kappa purattiyath and fish curry, and a breakfast sandwich.

Menemen

Menemen is a traditional Turkish egg based dish that resembles Shakshouka, a delicious Arabic breakfast recipe. The tangy and saucy dish is spiced up with pepper powder and made creamy with yogurt or cheese. Menemen is ideal for dinner when served with white bread.

Kappa purattiyath

Kappa purattiyath is the quintessential Kerala breakfast dish that we fondly devours. Well cooked tapioca is mashed and them mixed with sauteed onions and spices to make a delicious, yet humble dish. They are best paired with traditional Kerala red fish curry.

Breads and eggs breakfast

There is no easier breakfast item than breads that can make you full. You can easily give an Indian twist to breads by making a curry flavored sandwich. Or even better, saute some onions and tomatoes, break and egg to it, throw in the spices. Make the fill with this mixture to make a delightful egg sandwich to kick-start your morning.
