Sreenivasan has tasted nothing but success in his cooking experiments

In an eventful career spanning decades, actor Sreenivasan has directed just two movies - Vadakku Nokki Yanthram and Chintavishtayaya Syamala. Both the films were incredibly successful and the Malayali audience love to watch them even today. With his quintessential smile, Sreenivasan declares that like in direction, he hasn't tasted failure in the culinary art as well.

Sreenivasan revealed his love for cooking in a special interview conducted by Durga Krishna for Manorama Online. Durga had asked the veteran actor whether he had failed, at least once, in his cooking experiments. He answered her by recalling his cooking experiences during his olden days in Madras. “Four of us had stayed in a room. It was me who cooked most of the days. The fact is that we didn't have enough money to eat from hotels. So I would ask my mother and learn the recipes. It was decided that each person would cook every day. Just because I didn’t like what they cooked and they loved what I made, I decided to cook every day,” laughed Sreenivasan.

The actor also shared an interesting memory that is related to his incredible cooking talents. Sreenivasan had shared a room with a man named Shantappa, who hailed from Karnataka. It was during the days when he was a student at the famed film institute in Madras. “We had stayed together for two years. Years later when I met Shantappa, he told me that he had hired a Malayali cook as he still remembered the taste of the dishes that I had prepared,” recalled Sreenivasan.
