Chakkakuru olan

Kerala's humble backyard fruit jackfruit is nowadays used to replace meat in various dishes around the world. When its the season of chakka aka jackfruit, almost all Keralites make at least one dish at home using jackfruit. Here is an olan made using chakkakuru or jackfruit seeds.

Ingredients
½ cup jackfruit seeds (cut into pieces)
½ cup brown gram (soaked and boiled)
4 green chillies
4 tsp Maggi coconut milk powder
20 curry leaves
2 tsp fresh coconut oil

Preparation
Soak the brown gram for at least 2 hours and cook in pressure cooker
Into it add the jackfruit seeds, green chillies and salt along with 1 teaspoon Maggi coconut powder mixed in 1 cup water
Cook these on simmer
Mix the rest of the Maggi coconut milk powder in half cup water and add into it
Cook for 5 more minutes on low flame
Add the curry leaves
Sprinkle some fresh coconut oil and turn off the flame.
