Keralites share a unique bond with hot and crunchy parippuvada or dal fritters. To bite into that perfect crunchiness, while sipping hot tea, is truly a special feeling. More than an evening snack, dal fritter is a great ‘bonding’ dish as Malayalis love having tea and parippuvada while enjoying an amazing conversation. The dal fritter tastes and smells good when fried in fresh coconut oil. Here is how you could make tasty and crunchy dal fritters at home.

Ingredients
1 cup toor dal
½ cup chopped shallots
1 tbsp chopped green chillies
1 tsp chopped ginger
Curry leaves
Salt as required
Coconut oil to fry

Preparation
Soak the toor dal for at least 4 hours
Grind the soaked dal into a coarse paste
Add the rest of the ingredients into it
Mix well
Make small balls from this mixture and gently press into fritter shape
Deep fry in hot coconut oil.
