Vijayakumari is proud and happy as she shows anyone around her recently renovated house. She had entrusted architect Babith and his friends with the task of makeover. What Vijayakumari initially wanted was adding one more floor above the existing structure. However, the natural lights shied away from the interiors and there wasn’t a stairway which could connect the floors. So, it was decided that the house could be renovated to suit the modern style. Several unique ideas that came up when she met a designer, who is also her relative, were perfectly executed in this renovated house.

The old house had a living and a dining area, three bedrooms and a kitchen in 1000 sq ft. An extra floor is added to overcome the space constraints. Certain parts of the old structure were demolished, while some others were added. Now, the renovated structure has an area of 1385 sq ft. The interiors are designed in such a way that the maintenance became easier.

The elevation of the house is given an extremely stylish makeover with the elegant brown and white hues adorning the exterior walls. The box-like pattern is the highlight of the exteriors. A sit-out which extends to the front is newly added. The car porch in the old structure was demolished to make the front room spacious. A bathroom too has been added here.

The design patterns adopted in the interiors gave the family freedom to alter the arrangements as per their wishes and preferences. A stairway is newly constructed to connect both the floors. There is a family space and a bath-attached bedroom on the upper floor.

The house was renovated without making any major changes in the original structure. The mosaic paved floor is replaced with stylish vitrified tiles. The wiring and plumbing works are updated to the latest versions. Elegant LED light fittings highlight the gypsum false ceiling. Fresh coat of paint in pleasant and attractive hues makes the house lively. These make the interiors look vast and feel amazing as well.
